Η Πυροσβεστική της Σκωτίας προέτρεψε τους πολίτες να αποφύγουν την περιοχή, καθώς οι πάνω από 60 πυροσβέστες συνέχιζαν να επιχειρούν μέχρι τις πρώτες πρωινές ώρες, περισσότερες από 13 ώρες μετά την πρώτη ειδοποίηση.

Την ίδια στιγμή, το BBC Scotland που βρισκόταν στον τόπο του συμβάντος περιέγραψε ότι είδε τον θόλο στη γωνία του κτιρίου να καταρρέει κατά τη διάρκεια της πυρκαγιάς, ενώ ένα καφέ που βρίσκεται στο κτίριο, έγινε γνωστό ότι καταστράφηκε ολοσχερώς επίσης. Η ιδιοκτήτρια του κομμωτηρίου Willow που βρίσκεται στο κτίριο, γνωστοποίησε επίσης ότι η επιχείρησή της καταστράφηκε ολοσχερώς από τη φωτιά.
